Ashley Walker

English Language Arts (ELA)

Ashley is a graduate of Longwood University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with concentration in Secondary Education. She holds a Master’s degree in Reading from Virginia Commonwealth University and received a Post Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership from Longwood University in August 2018. She is licensed to teach in Virginia with endorsements in English 6-12, Reading Specialist, and Administration and Supervision PreK-12.

She began her career in Education in 2009 teaching 9th grade English at Varina High School in Henrico, Virginia. Henrico County Public Schools has offered a wealth of experiences and roles including teacher, content team leader, reading specialist, literacy coach, new teacher mentor coordinator, school based grant program coordinator, and administrative intern. She has a wealth of experience leading professional learning at local, state, and national conferences and currently serves as a high school assistant principal.

Education is not only her career; it is her calling and my passion. In everything that she does, the well-being of students is her top concern. Each day, parents entrust us educators with their most precious cargo; she considers myself lucky to be a professional in a field where we are given such trust and opportunity.

She is most passionate about literacy and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn and have positive experiences with reading.

Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with my husband, Tyree, and three children: Trenton, Tristan, and Aubrey.
