Alexis Rutt, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the James Madison University College of Education, affiliated with Early, Elementary & Reading Education (EERE). Her work focuses on the intersection of science and language learning, including how teachers can support emergent bilingual students in rigorous practices such as modeling and argumentation, drawing on her experience teaching in linguistically diverse school settings. She completed doctoral work at the University of Virginia, with scholarship connected to preparing science teachers for linguistically diverse classrooms.
